You have arrived at probably the most remote site on the Internet at one of the last interesting and beautiful places on this planet: the Golden Triangle, up on the Mekong river from Northern Thailand's Chiang Rai, nested between the borders of Myanmar and Laos in the South of tropical China.

Here, the climate is one of the most pleasant on earth with sunny warm winters and tropically humid summers. Consequently, not only a rich biodiversity has developed but also many ethnic, cultural communities have settled here.

And this is what our site is all about: peoples and biodiversity: the thousand ways people have made their environment useful to themselves and - to you.

Our Mission and Concept

Ethnic minorities are often the looser of nations’ drives for economic development.

Together with their cultural identity they are loosing their environmental basis for traditional forms of livelihood.

With their environment degraded and with the continuing loss of fertile soils, of biodiversity, and of balanced water supply, their cultural identity is vanishing, the more as a new generation of young people desires access to globally marketed goods, jobs in cities, and a life different from their parents' rural living.

To not loose treasures and indigenous knowledge of our ethnic folks, we are building up this commercial outlet for ethnic products which are produced in an environment friendly way and in an environment free of agricultural and industrial chemical pollutants. These products, if offered world wide to an informed circle of customers, may ultimately create a market for wonderful goods that otherwise would never be known to the conventional trade.

If we succeed through your help and interest in global partnerships, many more people may find a way to keep their cultural integrity, protect their environment, and at the same time connect to the world of modern and global development.

How we operate

Many of our products are designed by the TianZi Biodiversity Research & Development Centre located in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China, and with the cooperation of national and international Institutions and Universities. The TianZi Biodiversity Centre is funded privately.
